SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - March 12, 2010) - In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day -- the greenest of all holidays -- TrueCar (www.truecar.com), the new car pricing authority on the Internet, has decided to give consumers every scrap of available information regarding green cars, including the biggest current discounts available for hybrid cars and the most popular green colored cars so far in 2010*.
THE BEST HYBRID CAR & SUV DEALS
As consumers continue to purchase green cars -- perhaps more so this week in celebration of St. Patrick's Day -- cost-conscious buyers continue to research and buy hybrid and low MPG new cars to offset the again rising price of gas. TrueCar.com continues to monitor the industry to deliver the most up to date information regarding the best deals on hybrids currently available.
Not surprisingly, the popularity of hybrid vehicles has made the most high profile models less of a great deal. However, consumers can still find some great hybrid buys like the 2010 Nissan Altima, which is selling at an average of 18% below MSRP.
"Consumers can hit two birds with one stone with the big discounts we identified for several hybrid vehicles: feel good about minimizing your carbon footprint and save money at the same time," said Jesse Toprak, Vice President of Industry Trends & Insights.
Based on the data we've collected, here are the most current best deals available, separated by hybrid cars and hybrid SUVs.

THE COLOR GREEN
TrueCar.com also ran the numbers to figure out the top 10 models that have the highest percentage of green paint (Why? Because TrueCar has too much data and doesn't know what to do with it.) Unlike new cars in "lot colors," (the standard colors most dealers order the bulk of their cars in, like black, white, gray and silver), the many shades of green are a specialty color that comprises a small percentage of all cars made. With that in mind, the overall industry average was just over 2% of all cars sold, being green.
However, some notable models outdistanced that average. For instance, the 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser sold 23% green cars. Also impressive, though not surprising to Subaru owners, was the 21% of green 2010 Foresters and 12% of green 2010 Outbacks sold. The brand new 2010 Honda Crosstour made the list with 7%. Toyota had three cars in the top 10, including 2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander and the FJ Cruiser.
